Understanding the whole process of how an ad exchange works can be confusing. We’ve added two more resources on our website to help you better understand the importance of an ad exchange versus an ordinary ad serving system.

Learn about how our system works. If you are already familiar with our system, a refresher won’t hurt you. Visit the following link to see how easy it is to set up a private-label system to help you monetize every single impression in your inventory. http://www.myadmarket.com/steps.php

Still unsure of how our open ad exchange works? The exchange is an auction-style bidding system so that you will get max back for your inventory. There’s no need to look for third-party sources to trade off publishers’ remnant inventory. ROI Tracking and CPA Campaigns – How To

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Our ROI tracking tool can be used as a CPA campaign, but you will need to create campaign as a CPC, CPM, CPV, or CPI. The code is generated by the system and can be placed on the conversion page of the campaign. You will need to provide a value amount. The following are the types of codes that can be generated.

Type of conversions you can track for code insertion pages Examples for code insertion pages
Purchase/Sale: track how many users purchased from the campaign The page after the payment is submitted
Signup: track how many users signed up for your service The sign up confirmation page
PageView: track how many times users have landed on a single page The keypage user is landed
Lead: track how many users requested follow-up calls for more information The page after the leading action is performed

As a note, the Campaign must be in active status for this feature to function.

The following are steps on how to setup the ROI tracking.

  • In the Admin Area under Advertiser Area Menu, click onto Search Advertisers/ Campaigns
  • Search for an active campaign
  • Click on campaign ID or Campaign Name
  • Under the campaign info section, click on the View Settings button
  • Once you are at the advertiser admin area click on the settings tab then click on the ROI Tracking button
  • In the ROI Tracking Code section, you can select the Type of conversions you would like to track
  • Then set the value of the conversion
  • Next, click on Generate Code button
  • Once the code has been generated you will need to copy and paste it into the appropriate conversion webpage of the campaign

After the ROI Code is placed it on the conversion page, you will see an ROI conversion report in the reports section of advertiser area. With the ROI tracking tool, you can instantly see whether the campaign was effective, as advertisers are only paying for a certain action, such as a credit card sign up. Every online advertising campaign can be tracked and measured, and Of course, results are always best measured in terms of return on investment. Campaigns that measure clicks and impressions like CPC, CPM, CPV, etc don’t really earn the advertisers any money. Advertisers are not tracking their return on investment, they are merely tracking their expenses. So with the ROI Tracking tool, the advertisers bear no risks, since the advertiser can track those visitors that were converted into customers, and the total value spent on each conversion. The following is an example of the report.

As usual, contact your account managers if you have any additional questions!

eCPM and Campaign Auto-Optimization

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

One highly beneficial tool available to you on MyAdMarket’s ad serving exchange is the campaign Auto-Optimization feature. The system determines traffic quality automatically through eCPM optimization, for example, if an advertiser selects the “auto optimization” feature for their campaign, the system will distinguish the relationship between a site’s traffic and a campaign’s settings. If the site delivers high quality traffic (e.g. high click rates with unique IP addresses based on the campaigns needs, such as contextual/geo-target settings, it will attempt to send more of the same type of traffic.

eCPM, or effective-CPM, works by dividing the amount spent on the campaign with the amount of impressions it has received. Altogether, this auto-optimization tool will fully automate what used to be a manual process of optimizing your online ads. The process includes reallocation of traffic to ensure premium campaign performance and ROI.

Click-Fraud Prevention Technology

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Another popular question asked by many of our clients is, how exactly does our click-fraud prevention technology work?

clickfraud

There are several ways our system protects your ad network from click-fraud. First, at the central level, we embed a pixel tracking code for every single publisher code. This code features both click-fraud prevention, as well as publisher site quality control. The system tracks each visit, and monitors how long they stay at the destination page. A click considered good quality consists of many unique IP addresses and stays on the page for over 2 seconds. A click is considered bad quality if one IP address clicks many different ads and stays for less than 1 second. Bad quality clicks are automatically blacklisted; if one IP address has clicked 8 or more times within a very short time span, such as a few seconds or less, the system will block this particular IP address for 30 days.

Another useful tool in the administrator panel of MyAdMarket’s Open Media Exchange is the ability to set a site gateway. Commonly known as CAPTCHA, or the “double-click method,” the site gateway tool requires users to verify that they are human and not a computer-generated click by challenging users to type in letters or digits from an image before presenting the user with the destination URL. To use the site gateway tool to help you detect click fraud on suspicious publisher sites, go into your site settings in the administrator panel, and input the site gateway percentage so that a verification code is required for every X amount of clicks. For example, 50% will require the user to input a code one of every two clicks.

Example of site gateway:

captcha

Used in conjunction with the site gateway tool is the real-time site gateway report, which will provide you with very valuable information to help you determine unusual activity, for example, the IP addresses of each visit, the display URL, the clicked URL, good clicks vs. bad clicks, and so forth. This is done through the Site Gateway Report under Publisher Traffic Reports in the admin menu.

As well, we have a dedicated traffic control team that monitors clicks and will immediately notify you of any suspicious clicks. Although we try to monitor our traffic as closely as possible, MyAdMarket is a growing exchange with nearly 200,000 publisher sites and thus detecting every single click-fraud continues to be an active challenge for us. It is for this reason we recommend you not to solely depend on our traffic control team, as you should periodically monitor your traffic as well.
